OCTOBER 2017: We review the new HO scale 4-6-6-4 Challenger steam locomotive from Trix (Marklin)! We also take a spin in our new Chevy Nomad from Oxford Diecast to pick up some frozen custard at the Walthers Cornerstone Culver’s Restaurant. All this and more in the October issue of Model Railroad News.
The new Trix HO scale 4-6-6-4 represents Union Pacific’s final group of Challengers built between 1942 and 1944. Smooth performance, an abundance of sound and lighting effects, and optional smoke generators are the hallmarks of this museum-quality model.
An all-new diesel switcher model is on its way to Rapido Trains’ line of high quality HO-scale trains. The coming release will be a True North-series offering available in Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific (CP) road names. The prototype four-axle switcher was built by General Motors Diesel (GMD) and went into service in Canada in 1955.
